Sharing knowledge is the new power

DrillWell has put communication on the agenda, and in connection with the annual DrillWell seminar, communication guru Hans-Petter Nygård-Hansen was invited to talk about knowledge sharing and technology.

Hans-Petter is primarily known as @hpnhansen, and can be found in basically all social media networks. He has his background from Gambit Hill + Knowlton Strategies and Geelmuyden Kiese, and is the founder of the communications agency KommFrem - Communication that takes you forward, where he works today.

With the internet, smartphones and social media, we have "the whole world" available in our palm. The Internet has made communication open and transparent and we consume news and impressions as never before. This offers opportunities but also challenges. The media landscape is complex and the audience imposes different requirements on how content is conveyed. We no longer choose what channels we want to convey in, they choose our audience for us - and the fight for their attention is becoming tougher and tougher.

-The internet and social media have made businesses and communication open and transparent, said Nygård-Hansen. - Companies are much more visible and vulnerable today and they should relate to it. Nygård-Hansen drew an interesting picture of how companies have changed from communicating with the press using press releases, to write their own stories and publish those in their own media channels like blogs and social media, so-called content marketing.

Nygård-Hansen had gone through DrillWell’s media channels ahead of the seminar, which today consists of drillwell.no and a LinkedIn profile. Let's put it this way; we are not quite there yet. But, we are on the way! Looking ahead, we will focus on telling the good stories, and to be even more visible, both nationally and internationally.
