Get ready for ONS 2016!

Two years ago more than 90 000 people attended the ONS conference and exhibition. On August 29, we hope to see you there.

The University of Stavanger and IRIS have a joint stand, promoting the two research centres The National IOR Centre of Norway and DrillWell – Drilling and Well Centre for improved recovery . 'It's rock science!' is our slogan this year - and we can all agree that rocks really are the fundamentals of IOR research. Our stand will offer both pleasure and business, as we have developed our own IOR game! Travel through the reservoir and recover as much oil as you can - but be careful, there are many obstacles along the way. The player with the highest score each day of the exhibition will win great prizes. Come try your luck at stand #932, right by the Centre Court.

In addition to fun and games, we will also provide some food for thought. Kristin Flornes, Senior Vice President at IRIS, will present during the Centre Court Session 'Research and development – a necessity to transform' on Tuesday 30th August 16:10 PM until 17:30 PM. Flornes' presentation is titled 'Joining forces to innovate'. After the Centre Court session there will be an informal reception with food and beverages at our stand.

Øystein Arild from IRIS/DrillWell, Research Director, New Energy, Risk Management and Well Construction, will present 'Plug and Abandonment: Quality at the right price' during the Technical Sessions at ONS. Here he argues that leakage risk can be used as a quality measure for a P&A solution and that this quality measure can be quantified. This approach supports new, faster, cheaper and better P&A barrier solutions. Arild will present in session 14: Cost effective slot recovery and P&A on Wednesday 31st August 13:00 PM until 15:00 PM, in Hall 6.

The stand will be manned with personnel from The University of Stavanger and IRIS, representing the two research centres and will be ready to answer any questions you might have related to our research.
