DrillWell at OMAE 2015 conference in Canada

The 34th International Conference on Ocean, Offshore and Arctic Engineering (OMAE) was held at St. John's, Newfoundland in Canada from May 31st to June 5th 2015.

Approximately 1000 people from all over the world attended the conference, which was organized with up to 16 concurrent sessions. DrillWell was well represented at the Petroleum Technology session.

PhD-student Fatemeh Moeinikia gave a presentation entitled "A Study of Possible Solutions for Cost Efficient Subsea Well Abandonment", which summarized some of the major findings from DrillWell-project P3.3 Improved Plugging & Abandonment. The presentation was well received, with several interesting questions and comments.

The conference was held in St. John's at Newfoundland in Canada, which is a nice town located at the most eastward point in North America. The town is influenced by European and especially UK culture, and a major finding discovered outside the official conference program was that there are several nice restaurants and pubs in St. John's that serve good food and drink. Another important discovery was the geology museum that described the interesting local geology.

The next OMAE conference will be held in South Korea in 2016. This was emphasized at the Farewell Reception by serving Korean-inspired food, and by playing Korean pop music videos such as "Gangnam style" at large-sized screens at the wall.

The DrillWell partners were well represented at the Petroleum Technology session, and several good presentations were given within drilling and well topics outside the DrillWell center as well. Below is the list of presentations given by DrillWell partners:
