Et «kick» i brønnen kan bli katastrofe. Nå har det norske forskningsprogrammet DrillWell kommet frem til betydelige resultater som kan føre til tryggere boring i vanlige oljebrønner og mer «hissige» brønner med veldig høyt trykk og høy temperatur.

I 2010 inntraff en av de største oljekatastrofene i moderne tid, da oljeselskapet BP fikk et brønnspark som ikke ble håndtert godt nok på riggen Deepwater Horizon. Det førte til at 11 mennesker mistet livet, og en enorm miljøkatastrofe var et faktum.

Nå har det norske forskningsprogrammet DrillWell kommet frem til betydelige resultater som kan føre til tryggere boring i vanlige oljebrønner og mer «hissige» brønner med veldig høyt trykk og høy temperatur.
